Heavy Bowman Fined By Stewards
Hugh Bowman was fined $300 by stewards on Saturday for being unable to make the weight for a total of five rides between Wednesday and Friday.
Last season's premiership-winning rider was interviewed by stewards at Rosehill after missing rides at Canterbury, Wyong and Warwick Farm during the week.
Bowman told them that after returning from an overseas holiday recently he had advised his manager that he would be able to make the weight allotted to the rides he missed.
However, Bowman said he was unable to waste sufficiently to get down to the required weights and elected to relinquish three rides at Canterbury (Malbun, Commanding Girl, Rampart), as well as one ride at Wyong and one at Warwick Farm.
Bowman had two unplaced rides - Innings and Key West - at Rosehill.
