Parr Draws Level With Brother-in-law

JFlaming Rockosh Parr's win on Flaming Rock at Rosehill on Saturday took his season tally in Sydney to 35 and drew him level with best mate and brother-in-law Tim Clark in the top 10 of the jockeys' premiership.

"That's 35 apiece," Parr said after guiding the David Payne-trained gelding to victory.

"We mucked around at the start of the year and just said, let's have a go at this and see who wins.

"It's only the last couple of weeks that we looked at it and saw it was really close. We're best mates and there's nothing riding on it, it was just a bit of fun."

From barrier one Parr was able to put Flaming Rock in the box seat tracking the leader The Invincible One in the Heliaust Handicap (1400m).

The son of Fastnet Rock peeled off the leader's back on straightening and hit the front in the final 100m to defeat The Invincible One by three-quarters of a length with the same margin to Ruud Roy in third.

Josh Parr"He did have a nice run in the race but he did a good job," Parr said.

Payne said Flaming Rock would likely be spelled and expected him to return an even better horse next preparation.

"He's a very late foal and I just think he's improving with age," Payne said.

"He's becoming stronger.

"I'll talk to the owners but I think he deserves a break now and I think he could be a nice horse for later on."

Flaming Rock brought up a race-to-race double for Payne following the earlier win of Empire Place.
