Lever Pinches Advantage In Adelaide Premiership
Barring any minor miracles, Chad Lever will be crowned Adelaide’s leading jockey for 2009/10.
In Thursday’s penultimate meeting at Morphettville Parks, Lever and Simon Price traded blows with Lever coming out on top.
Price rode two winners early on the card to move within two wins of Lever however Lever responded with two winners of his own to bring up a treble for the day on the seven-race card.
Going into tomorrow’s final meeting of the season, Lever leads by four wins on 48 with Price on 44.
The duo left Adelaide’s leading apprentice rider Libby Hopwood languishing behind on 42-1/2 wins just ahead of Paul Gatt on 41.
Price has a full book of eight rides tomorrow while Lever has six mounts.
In contrast, the Adelaide Trainers’ Premiership was decided long before yesterday with Mark Kavanagh boasting a 9-1/2 win advantage over his nearest rival Richard Jolly.
