Denman Off To England
Darley Australia announced on Friday that star colt Denman would be heading to England to be prepared for the Group One July Cup at Newmarket.
Denman will join the Godolphin stable of Darley principal Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum at Newmarket and will enter quarantine at the end of the month, Tom Seymour, Darley Australia's head of marketing, said in a statement.
The news ends speculation regarding the future of the colt who failed to run out 1600m for the second time from as many tries at the trip when fourth to Rock Classic as odds-on favourite in the Group One Australian Guineas at Flemington last Saturday.
Trained in Australia by Peter Snowden, Denman won nine of his 12 starts including the Group One Golden Rose (1400m) at Rosehill last August.
Denman will be boom sire Lonhro's first stakeswinning representative in the northern hemisphere.
The first squad of nine horses shipped from Darley Australia last year to race under the Godolphin banner in Dubai have been thwarted by injury and bad luck.
Caymans became blind in one eye and Time Thief suffered a leg injury.
Group One Spring Champion Stakes winner Sousa, Aichi, Fravashi, Desuetude, El Cambio, Marching and Imvula have all failed to win in Dubai to date.
