He’s Gonna Go For A Spell

We're Gonna RockSpruik three-year-old colt We’re Gonna Rock will play no further part over the Melbourne Festival of Racing.

Mark Kavanagh notified stewards that he intends to send We’re Gonna Rock for a spell after his erratic performance at Moonee Valley on Friday.

Subsequent to the event Kavanagh also noted that We’re Gonna Rock pulled up shin sore.

We’re Gonna Rock won impressively on debut down the straight over 1000m at Flemington on December 19 when defeating the previously unbeaten Marconi.

Finishing strongly from the rear of the field, We’re Gonna Rock completed his last three furlongs in a sizzling 31.82 seconds.

Subsequent to that victory, there was speculation John Singleton and Gerry Harvey tried to purchase a share of the colt understood to be valued at approximately $10 million.

Meanwhile, two-year-old colt Innocent Gamble suffered a similar fate following his disappointing effort in the Blue Diamond Prelude (1100m) on Saturday.

Trained by Mark Riley, who said the colt is the best horse he’s ever trained after his win in the colts and geldings division of the Blue Diamond Preview (1000m), Innocent Gamble will also be sent to the paddock after also pulling up shin sore.
