Here De Angels One To Beat In Oakleigh Plate
The title of Caulfield specialist sits squarely on the shoulders of Here De Angels after his track record breaking win in the Group Three Rokk Ebony Rubiton Stakes.
His time of 1:01.73 shattered the previous record set by Intelligent Star of 1:01.86 for the 1100m journey, the same distance as the Oakleigh Plate.
And that is exactly where he is heading in two weeks time and on present form he is bound to take a bit of tossing as he racing in peak form.
Lucky Secret appeared to have the race in his keeping until the winner swooped getting the verdict in the last possible stride.
Outside of Here De Angels and Lucky Secret, the performance of Rostova was exceptional to finish third, as she came from last on the home turn.
She had not raced since October when her form tapered off quite a bit, and it is possible she could be an autumn filly rather than a spring filly
That is a known fact, has happened before, and there is no reason why it not could happen again in this case.
With another run under her belt and the filly that won the Sire’s Produce Stakes could be soon back in the winner’s circle.
Avenue showed pace as expected but could not fully cope with the open age factor.
She will be much better off against her own age at present while Gran Sasso was another that was running on nicely.
